The Open Impact Lab connects a range of activities which advance social impact. The Lab has two core aims, building inwards and reaching out.
First, it builds inwards within the OCAD U community by supporting and connecting activities that create impactful change for our students and staff. Activities range from programming initiated by the students in the student-run Social Impact Clubs, to our curated series of events which celebrate the ways that members of our OCAD U community generate social impact through art and design.
The second core aim of the Open Impact Lab is to reach outside of the OCAD U community. We do so by collaborating on outreach activities with partner institutions. We recognize that in order to address large-scale social challenges we need to connect and work together at a local Canadian and International scale. Our collaborations include addressing transportation challenges in Toronto, to developing new forms of open source learning platforms.
